Microsoft announced Windows 11 Moments 3 at BUILD 2023. This is the first major operating system update in 2023 and as of today it is available as an optional installation as part of the gradual rollout strategy common in recent builds to reduce bugs. The version will be released generally on Windows Update and to all users on June 13 as part of the monthly update.

Microsoft is celebrating its annual developer conference this week, and on the first day it left us with an almost absolute lead in the commitment to integrate technologies artificial intelligence in a large part of its services and applications. One of the big news was Windows Copilot, an assistant that will be integrated into Windows and that will try to overcome the Cortana fiasco.

The company also used the BUILD framework to launch a new Windows 11 update. If you don’t follow us regularly and get lost with the little name “Moments”, you should know that this is a new strategy engineering group, kind of service packages reduced rates that Microsoft has implemented as a formula keep the system up to date on new functions, technology support, system applications or those that you develop externally in parallel.

These Windows 11 “Moments” are part of standard cumulative updates, but with a new twist andInstead of just providing bug fixes and security patches, they also include new features and functionality.

When we get to the point, be direct, and as we’ve talked about in other editions, forget about any “revolution” because you won’t find it. That should come next year with the release of Windows 12, and maybe not, because Microsoft must first get rid of all the legacy components, some present since Windows 95. With these restrictions, the idea is improve the system here and there to make it more attractive in the eyes of the majority of users who stay on Windows 10. Privacy. In an effort to improve transparency and control of personal information, the app’s new privacy settings will allow users to manage access to presence sensor information and adjust features such as “wake when approaching” and “block when leaving.”

VPN. In the same vein, and in recognition of the importance of a secure Internet connection, Microsoft is introducing a more visible VPN feature. Users will be able to quickly check the VPN status using a shield icon that will appear on the taskbar above an active network connection.

2FA codes. This is a button added to the notification system that allows you to copy two-factor authentication codes with a single click. This feature has been available on Android and iOS for a long time, and now Microsoft is bringing it to its desktop operating system.

Login information in the Start menu. To keep users informed about their account status, Microsoft is implementing an account identification system that notifies users when their accounts require attention, helping to protect both your data and your computer. It will be located in the Start menu.

Task Manager. An important internal component that improves with each release and starting with this release will support a live kernel dump, a data collection feature that fixes a specific problem while the operating system continues to run. It will be very useful for developers or administrators who need to investigate unresponsive applications or other issues.

Bluetooth Low Energy Audio. Working with Intel and Samsung, Windows 11 will add support for this new feature on PCs and it offers high-quality sound and low power consumption, which should improve the user experience for calls, videos and music with compatible devices.

usb4. The latest version of the peripheral connection standard is not yet as widespread as we would like, but Windows 11 is preparing for this with a new page in Settings that will provide information about hubs based on this version and connected devices.

CABC. He Adaptive content brightness control is a power-saving feature for laptops and tablets that allows you to lower or raise the brightness based on the content on the screen. Although not new to Windows 11, the new update brings more customization with features: off, battery only, and always on.

Microsoft Pluto. An in-house developed security chip for integration into Intel and AMD processors promises greater resistance to malware, stronger protection against hardware attacks and additional protection of credentials. We haven’t seen too many PCs using it yet, but Microsoft is preparing Windows 11 to use it.

Widgets. It includes a redesigned launcher that allows you to preview a widget before pinning it. Rumors continue about the ability for users to place widgets on the desktop, but we haven’t seen such an option in Moments 3. The default dashboard view will now feature a larger layout with dedicated space for user-pinned apps and a custom suggested feed. This will highlight the user’s feed and personal widget collection.

OneDrive. Microsoft’s cloud storage service client has recently redesigned its interface in Windows 11, and now a small dedicated section has been added to show a better breakdown of stored content for subscribers who use it.

Windows 365. Another internal service (Windows in the cloud) that Microsoft wants to promote and for this version the feature “Windows 365 Boot” is added, which allows you to log in directly to a PC in the cloud and specify that a particular PC is going to be used as the main enjoyment.

Isolation for Win32 applications. Microsoft will launch the option to isolate Win32 applications in the preview and with it helps prevent applications from unexpected or unauthorized access to critical internal Windows subsystems, minimizes damage if an application is compromised, and improving overall device security.

How to install Windows 11 Moments 3

This build has been tested on the Insider channel for the past few months, but considering that every major Windows update introduces new ones in addition to fixing many of the previous bugs, Microsoft is committed to a gradual rollout to mitigate them.

So the version will only be available (for now) as an option for users who actively choose to install it. If this is your case, you can do this by going to General Settings > Windows Update, checking for available updates, and installing the version.

If there are no serious issues, Microsoft will make this version available to all Windows 11 users. in the next monthly system update, on Tuesday, June 13. Moments 3 will be available on Windows Update, and we expect that from then on the update version available on the Windows 11 website will be updated, and ISO images for clean installs or virtual machines still running Windows 11 22H2 will also be updated.
