Project Helix is a joint initiative by Dell Technologies Inc. and Nvidia Corp. that helps companies deploy generative AI software in their own data centers.
Nvidia and Dell created Project Helix to facilitate the implementation of generative artificial intelligence in the data centers that companies manage on their premises.
The project offers systems under the term validated designs. They combine Dell servers – equipped with management tools developed in-house – with chips and software from Nvidia. The systems are also optimized for AI training.
Project Helix is based on the Dell PowerEdge server portfolio, which includes several machinations optimized for AI use.
Businesses can combine Dell servers with Nvidia’s latest GPU, the H100. According to the manufacturer, it can train AI models up to nine times faster than other chips. It contains a module that large language models speeds up and enables larger models to acquire data in various formats. According to Nvidia, the H100 automatically selects the fastest format.
The combination of the two initiators offers companies a whole range of systems, tools, hardware and software from two big names in their respective industries.
Nvidia provides more than 50 tools for building and using AI models and various ready-made neural networks.
Dell adds CloudIQ, a platform for on-premises monitoring of AI applications, and Secured Component Verification, which installs encrypted data on servers: certificates. Such a certificate warns companies when hackers have manipulated a server.
It is already the second collaboration that Dell has entered into in recent months. In February, it was announced that the company was launching a project on open telecommunications networks together with Red Hat.
Nvidia isn’t sitting still either, earlier this month there was news of a collaboration with ServiceNow on generative AI models.
