To begin with, Copilot is not the same as Bing’s chatbot. This is an artificial intelligence assistant technology that integrates with services such as Outlook (mail), Calendar, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams and more. For example, it helps to create emails based on a textual description, generate ideas, compose necessary texts, work with tables and much more. You write a short query with the desired result and Copilot generates everything for you with the help of artificial intelligence.
How is it going to be?
The Copilot button will be located in the taskbar. When enabled, a sidebar will open similar to the one used when interacting with a bot in the new Bing. You can ask Copilot about everything, for example, what the weather is like in Lviv today, where to go on the weekend and the schedule of screenings in a local cinema. This makes life easier for users as they no longer need to go to a search engine for information.
A demo video from Microsoft shows Copilot tweaking Windows settings, rearranging windows using Snap Layouts, summarizing and rewriting documents dragged into it, and opening apps like Spotify, Adobe Express, and Teams.
How Copilot will work on Windows 11: video
With the launch of Copilot on Windows, Microsoft says the operating system will be the first PC platform in the world to have this type of integration to assist AI users. Combined with Bing AI and various plug-ins, both proprietary and third-party, users will be able to bring their ideas to life by executing complex projects with the help of artificial intelligence without the hassle of switching between multiple applications.
Once opened, the Windows Copilot sidebar remains unchanged across all your applications, programs and windows and is always available as your personal assistant. – Writes Panos Panai, director of product development at Microsoft.
Microsoft has not disclosed the privacy and security of Windows Copilot:
Can users trust the confidentiality of the content of their documents?
Which processes occur locally on your device and not on Microsoft servers.
Will chat history and contextual information be saved between sessions or even synced between computers?
We’ll likely learn more about it as the feature gets closer to launch.
Copilot coming to Edge and Microsoft Store
INSIDE There will be a new “AI Center” section in the Microsoft Store – a navigation option alongside buttons for apps, movies, TV and games categories. AI Hub will offer AI apps to work with text, images, and more, and the store can give you a quick summary of all available reviews for an app so you don’t have to read each one separately. . These features are coming “soon”.

when to wait co-pilot in Edge browser, the company does not say. But it’s unlikely to happen before Microsoft grants access to it in other services and systems. There are also no detailed descriptions of what functions the AI assistant will take on. They largely overlap with the Bing Chat chatbot already built into the browser in the same sidebar form. There you can communicate with the AI like a living human, ask questions, want to make a list, show the weather, invent a recipe and more. All that is known about Copilot functions in Edge is its ability to summarize received files. For example, load the retrieved document into AI and ask, “What are the key conclusions drawn from this document?” You should also expect some changes to the search process on the page (Ctrl+F key combination), but it’s only known to “get smarter”.
