The new feature opens up the ability to connect to remote locations that will likely never be covered by 5G. SpaceX CEO Elon Musk told a Starlink user that the new feature will allow the equipment to be used in minivans, mobile homes and campsites.

Starlink does not yet support the ability to operate while the vehicle is in motion, but the company says it is actively working on a solution for moving vehicles. Musk has previously tweeted that he is working on an energy-efficient solution that can be connected to a 12-volt car cigarette lighter while communicating.

However, some Starlink users use various methods to instantly test equipment performance with varying degrees of success. However, such a feature may appear officially very soon.

Power is an important factor when you use your vehicle’s battery. Starlink has recently managed to reduce its power consumption to 60-70 watts. A year ago, the equipment required 80 – 100 watts.

Starlink in Ukraine

Recently, the Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov shared an interesting statistic that shows the level of use of Starlink technology in Ukraine – provided by Elon Musk. There are thousands of daily users.

According to Apptopia, Starlink is approximately 150,000 active daily users in Ukraine. It is important to note that Starlink terminals in Ukraine today primarily work for social infrastructure facilities such as schools, hospitals, village councils, fire brigades.

Thanks to the Starlink equipment, Ukrainian specialists quickly repair damaged infrastructure areas, which helped to provide the cities of Kyiv and Chernihiv regions without the Internet. Operators have also started using Starlink terminals to reconnect, emphasizing that this is a much cheaper, faster and safer way than usual to repair damaged networks.

Earlier it was also known that the Ministry of Finance plans to build a Starlink ground station in Ukraine. This is necessary to improve the quality of satellite Internet for all Ukrainians, because according to speed tests, the quality of access varies in different regions of Ukraine.
