Virgin Galactic has successfully completed its fifth test space flight.
This was reported by Mail Online, Ukrinform reports.
VMS Eve carrying the crewed VSS Unity spacecraft took off from Virgin Galactic America Space Station in New Mexico. He lifted the spacecraft to an altitude of 13 kilometers, after which VSS Unity started the engine after separation and soared to an altitude of more than 80 kilometers, which is considered the limit of space.
VSS Unity hovered for three minutes at an altitude of 87 kilometers above the Earth’s surface, while the people on board were in a zero-gravity state.
The total duration of the flight was 90 minutes.
The Unity 25 mission is the last test flight before the company’s first commercial flight in late June. In the future, the company hopes to make such flights approximately every month.
