An 11-year-old boy from Mississippi was shot dead by a police officer after he dialed 911 about a domestic disturbance.
Aderrien Murrie dialed the emergency number after her mother’s ex-boyfriend arrived at her house at 4am last Saturday. His mother, fearing for his safety, asked Murry to call the police.
The policeman came to his house and shot the boy in the chest. The reason why a member of the police department of Indianola, a small town in Mississippi, shot an innocent boy is not yet known.
the child asked “Why did you shoot me? What did I do wrong? I don’t want to die”according to his mother.
The boy, who is only 11 years old, suffered lung collapse, a fractured rib, and a ruptured liver that caused him to be intubated and placed on a ventilator at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. This was reported by the mother of the victim. CNN that his son is about to die.
Aderrien Murray was discharged from the hospital yesterday and is recovering with his family.
“Aderrien nearly lost his life… It’s not right for a cop to do this and get away with it. Mother asked Aderrien to call the police. He left his room, following the instructions of the police, and they shot him,” said family lawyer Carlos Moore.
The lawyer added that the boy had nothing in his hands when the policeman shot him, so this could not have been a response to the threat.
The Indianola Police Department confirmed that the name of the officer involved in the shooting Greg Capers and an investigation is ongoing to find out what made him shoot.
