Xiaomi released this week financial report where it shows the numbers received and the important milestones achieved during the first quarter of this year. In total, the company sold 30.4 million devices.bringing in revenue of about 35 billion yuan, about 25 billion reais at the current exchange rate, in addition to reaching 600 million users.

The data relating to January and March of this year also showed that Xiaomi managed to increase the average selling price (ASP) compared to the same period last year. Year-to-date values show that they have managed to climb 2.7%, to about 1,152 yuan.

However, despite these impressive numbers, Xiaomi is facing a decline in smartphone sales compared to the first quarter of last year due to declining demand. The company’s revenue fell 18.9% and total sales reached 59.5 billion yuan ($8.6 billion), which appears to be in line with some analysts’ forecasts in the field.

However, this did not prevent the value from being below the 73.35 billion yuan received in the same period last year. This does not mean that they could not get positive data, since from January to March last year, net profit increased by 13.1%, reaching 3.23 billion yuan.

Analysts are studying the recent decline in smartphone sales, and the general consensus is that economic conditions around the world have yet to improve. Consumer demand remains weak, especially in the low-price segment, due to high inflation affecting consumer confidence and spending.

An important milestone in the number of Xiaomi users

In terms of active users, Xiaomi has reached an impressive milestone. The company hit the milestone of 600 million monthly active users between January and March 2023, an impressive growth in just one year and six months after breaking the 500 million user mark.

Apart from the smartphone business, Xiaomi is also investing in AIoT. The number of connected devices increased to 618 million, with 12.3 million users owning 5 or more. Revenue from large smart appliances such as refrigerators, air conditioners and washing machines increased by 60% compared to the same period last year. Xiaomi also shipped 2.8 million TVs, making the company one of the top five smart TV manufacturers.

In an attempt to further diversify its business, Xiaomi has begun investing in the automotive sector and plans to begin mass production of its first car in the first half of next year. In addition, the company plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 70% by 2030 and 98% by 2040, paving the way to zero emissions.
