MSI presents the SPATIUM M570 PRO as the fastest SSD on the market

MSI has unveiled its new SPATIUM M570 PRO storage solution, an SSD promoted as the market’s fastest sequential read, which exceed 14 GB per second.

The new SSDs connected to the PCIe 5 interface will arrive this year quite a bit later than expected, and Computex 2023, which starts next week in Taiwan, is the framework that many will use due to the attraction of the main Asian trade fair and the presence of large manufacturers in the country.

MSI is one of them and brings interesting news. SSD SPATIUM M570 PRO will be one of the star models that the manufacturer will exhibit at the fair. It was specially designed for breaking performance records and setting new standards in the storage industry. And so it is that if hard drives were a big bottleneck at the time, the latest generations of hard drives have caught up with the rest of the PC components.

MSI SPATIUM M570 PRO

It is a typical drive in M.2 2280 format with support for the latest version of the protocol and connected to a PCIe 5.0 slot. The manufacturer of the used 3D NAND flash memory or the amount of buffer memory was not mentioned, but the controller used, perhaps the most important part of an SSD today.

And he’s an old acquaintance, Phison E26, which uses several integrators. It is a development with two ARM Cortex-R5 cores and three proprietary CoXProcessor 2.0 accelerators integrated on the chip using TSMC’s 12nm manufacturing processes. It is intended to accelerate workloads on next-generation NVMe SSDs, including pass-through technologies based on the Microsoft DirectStorage API.

An advanced controller that allows the potential of the interface to be extracted and which in this case achieves a data transfer rate in sequential reading exceeding 14 Gbytes per second and 12 Gbytes per second in writing. It is the fastest SSD advertised.

temperature regulation

You already know that the performance increase of Gen5 over a massively reduced format like M.2 has caused a significant increase in temperatures that manufacturers have to control. Rumors say that this very factor was one of the culprits behind the delay in the commercialization of the new generation. To be honest, there must be something to it, because it is not normal that the biggest manufacturers, Samsung, WD and Kioxia, have not announced their solutions yet.

SSD from MSI is supplied as standard special cooling system and complete, which includes its own chassis, heatsink and large fan. We will have to get used to these types of active solutions as they will be common, although we have already tried other solutions that only use heatsinks. It goes without saying that designs like MSI can’t be mounted on laptops. There are none on the market yet. We’ll see how it works.

The pricing and storage capacity variants in which the MSI SSD will be released were not provided. We assume that it will have at least 1 and 2 Tbyte versions. We already told you in our Computex coverage.
