Samsung Bixby is a virtual assistant developed by Samsung Electronics. It is designed to provide users with a voice interface to interact with Samsung devices and perform various tasks. Bixby is equipped with natural language processing capabilities that allow it to understand and respond to user commands and requests. It can perform a number of functions such as setting reminders, searching for information, controlling smart home devices, and even performing complex multi-step tasks.

Bixby is integrated into a variety of Samsung products, including smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, and smart TVs, providing seamless connectivity and a consistent user experience across devices. Samsung recently brought an update to Bixby to improve its functionality and intelligence.

New update includes features for child accounts and voice wake-up

The latest update, version 3.3.15.18, is relatively light at just under 63 MB. According to Samsung, with this update, users can achieve more with Bixby, as the voice assistant can now suggest useful settings for a wider range of commands and make interactions more efficient than before.

In addition to improving usability, Samsung has made some adjustments to the child accounts feature, which was first introduced earlier this year. With Bixby version 3.3.15.18, users with child accounts can request parental verification when accessing Bixby services and additional permissions for third-party sharing. While the child account feature is currently available in the US and South Korea, Samsung has assured users that it will gradually expand support to more countries in the future.

Also, the latest Bixby update introduces a useful feature that allows users to enable voice wake-up even when the Voice wake-up option is turned off. This means users can now enable voice wake-up when playing a ringtone, alarm, or Bixby TTS (text-to-speech). Users can enable the “Wake while playing media” option by going to the Bixby settings menu to enable this feature.

For users of Samsung Galaxy devices who want to access the new Assistant features, the latest version can be downloaded from the Galaxy Store. Stay tuned for more updates and improvements as Samsung continues to improve Bixby functionality and expand its availability to more users worldwide.
