Tokyo initiative Preferred Robotics Inc. introduced Kachaka, the robot with artificial intelligence, to help at home.

As reported by Ukrinform, this was reported by Kyodo News.

The device, which is about the size of a robot vacuum cleaner, can deliver an object to a specific place in the home that is predetermined by the application. It can also deliver books and magazines to the owner, who can set a specific time for daily delivery.

Equipped with sensors and camera, Kachaka will not hit walls, furniture or other obstacles, but cannot climb stairs.

It is said that artificial intelligence technology analyzes the images from the camera, determines the location of people or furniture in the room and chooses the best route for the robot to move. The robot, which weighs 10 kg, can carry up to 20 kg with the attached table. It moves at a speed of 80 centimeters per second.

Preferred Robotics hopes using robots will reduce time spent on housework as people spend more time at home, such as working remotely.

The robot comes with a table with two or three shelves and costs start at 251,800 yen ($1,800). Users must also pay 980 yen ($7) per month for a custom robot app.

As reported by Ukrinform, startup Figure, which wants to create humanoid general-purpose robots, has attracted $70 million from investors led by Parkway Venture Capital.
