Hubble showed a “lonely” spiral galaxy in the Chinese constellation.

The NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope photographed spiral galaxy NGC 298 with the Advanced Camera for Surveys.

He reported on it the observatory reports Ukrinform.

NGC 298 is located about 89 million light-years from Earth in the constellation of Whale and appears isolated in this image with only a few distant galaxies and foreground stars accompanying the “lone” galaxy.

The Hubble Advanced Camera has been noted to capture NGC 298 as part of a study of the origin of type II supernovae.

All Type II supernovae are caused by the collapse and subsequent explosion of young massive stars, but they can produce a striking variety of luminosity and spectral features.

Astronomers think the diversity of these cosmic fireworks may be due to the removal of gas and dust from stars that will eventually lead to a Type II supernova.

As reported by Ukrinform, the NASA/ESA Hubble space telescope took the picture thanks to the Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3). jellyfish galaxy JW39It is located in the constellation Hair of Veronika.
