SpaceX president Elon Musk has announced his intention to fly the Starship super rocket within the next two months. Major improvements to the launch pad are expected to be completed within a month, and ground testing of the rocket is required for another month.

The first launch of Starship took place at the end of April. The rocket exploded less than four minutes after launch and was commanded to self-destruct due to technical problems. In addition, it was severely damaged during the launch pad – the power of dozens of Raptor engines literally destroyed it, and flying dust settled in a nearby Texas town.

The site has already been heavily beefed up and even ran a static fire test to test its reliability, but as Musk himself put it on Twitter, “big improvements.” The launch site will be completed in about a month, then another month will be spent on rocket testing of the site, and only then will Starship’s second flight take place.” .

In his comments later in response to one of the lines, Musk added that Starship is the first rocket and spacecraft with the potential to make life “multi-planetary.”

At the end of last month, the businessman said that he expects the new launch of Starship to be more successful. The SpaceX president claims the new ship has an 80% chance of making it this year, and is confident Starship will reach orbit within the next 12 months. It is known that SpaceX has applied for permission to the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to perform a second test flight within six months from June 15.
