Qnap presents a lot of news at Computex. On the hardware side, new NAS devices based on AMD hardware are popping up, but the cloud is also getting attention with the launch of MyQnapCloud One.
Qnap presents several new solutions at Computex. First and foremost, the hardware is crucial. At least Qnap shows the TS-h3077AFU. This series of devices is based on a powerful AMD Ryzen 7 7700 processor. The relatively new Zen 4 chip has eight cores and achieves a maximum clock speed of 5.3 GHz. The NAS supports DDR5 EEC memory.
For connectivity, you can then resort to two 10GbE ports, two 2.5GbE ports, and three PCIe Gen 4 slots supporting an optional 25GbE adapter. Qnap brings the TS-h3077AFU in different flavors. For example, the TS-h1277AXU-RP accommodates twelve 3.5-inch drives and the TS-h1677AXU-RP accommodates sixteen. PCIe Gen 5 M.2 slots are available for those who want to use fast SSD storage as cache, for example.
Qnap doesn’t just choose AMD. In the TVS-h674T and TVS-h874T, the manufacturer works with twelfth-generation Intel Core i7 and Intel Core i9 processors. The NAS devices are equipped with two USB Type-C Thunderbolt 4 ports. This is useful, for example, for photographers who want to quickly transfer images from an external drive. Two 2.5 GbE ports and two M.2 slots for SSDs (PCIe4) are integrated. You can also connect network adapters via two additional PCIe Gen 4 slots.
Qnap is showing the TBS-574TX especially for videographers. This NAS supports E1.S SSDs (single fin sized SSDs). D You can hot swap the SSDs. The thing supports video editing in 2K and 4K, also thanks to the twelfth generation Intel Core i3 processors. Qnap relies on a compact and lightweight device here, so that users can easily install it on site.
Not only Intel and AMD find space in the new NAS devices from Qnap. With the TS-AI642, the manufacturer relies on an 8-core ARM chip. The device is optimized for AI image recognition as part of a surveillance camera solution.
Qnap also relies on the cloud at the fair and follows Synology with the introduction of its own cloud brand: MyQnapCloudOne. The company primarily wants to support 3-2-1 backup strategies. As part of the solution, the Hybrid Backup Center must already provide an overview of all backup tasks.
Qnap currently has little information about the new devices and has not yet announced prices and availability.
