Lightweight and free code: this Android launcher is a little surprising if you like minimalist style

0

This mobile personalization options are increasing When we talk about launchers for Android. It’s there for all tastes. More loaded with retro style options with layers of customization and similarities with other operating systems… In my personal case, minimalists won my heart.

If you’re one of me, you’ll want to know starter ‘Kvaesitso’. It’s a launcher downloaded via an external (trusted) APK, and while its name might be almost unpronounceable to a Spanish-speaking person, its interface is just the opposite. We can customize all four sides within their own limits without giving up on minimalism.

Screen. And that’s it

The main (and almost unique) view of ‘Kvaesitso’

First of all I have to say that ‘Kvaesitso’ is not a launcher available on Google Play, but rather It is open source and available on the internet. Via Github. There is no difference to the method used to install any other APK on Android which has to activate the required permissions to install it.

Once we have it, we can confirm that this “screen” statement is true. Maybe not 100 percent, but almost. ‘Kvaesitso’ focuses one screen where we can see the time, some gadgets and that’s it. With our usual wallpaper (we can change it) and without any more distractions.

Add widget settings (left) and app drawer (right)

Obviously, we do not lose applications or access to them, because offers a search engine to find each of the applications we have on the mobile. Here it is dressed as a regular app drawer where we can add labels and/or set some apps as favorites to be pinned to the top.

Returning to that main and almost unique screen, we find ourselves various native ‘Kvaesitso’ widgets At least for now, there is time, calendar and music player. However, it allows add widgets from other apps adapted to the format, but basically looking the same, as if we didn’t have that launcher.

Some of the app drawer customization options

Of course, there is a minimalist launcher inside. It also offers customization options. Take as an example the possibilities of changing the shape of the application icons and/or adapting their color to the purest Material that is your style. Gestures can also be set as shortcuts to open quick settings or access notification bar.

Exactly the notification bar is an example of how that happens. This launcher does not host the entire interface of Android. And it is because our mobile does not offer a different notification panel than the one it brings natively. However, with Material You on Android 12 and above, having a style and color similar to the one that can be put in ‘Kvaesitso’ is not perceived as a major disadvantage.

An important thing to comment on, You will need to grant some restricted permissions. To do this you have to go to mobile settings, enter ‘Applications’, find ‘Kvaesitso’ and click on the three-dot icon (top right) to enable ‘Allow restricted settings’. After that, actions such as gestures can be configured without any problems.

As a final point to be emphasized, available in spanish. Thus, if you cannot speak other languages such as English, you will be able to control not only the installation but all the settings and options it offers.
