Russia wants its own firewall

Russia narrowly escaped Chinese “democracy”, but never fully regained control of the local Internet Runet. Efforts to separate the population from the influence of Western media and users led to the idea of ​​​​his own “Golden Shields”. Artem Sheykin, a member of the constitutional committee of the Federation Council, proposed the creation of a traffic blocking system in Russia that would work by analogy with the Greater China Firewall. According to him, this will make it possible to reliably prevent the work of bypassing the means of blocking especially foreign VPN services.

I consider the need for an analogue of the “Chinese firewall” in the Russian Federation, which, taking into account the unprecedented pressure from Western countries, openly hostile policy, can completely block access to unwanted Internet resources, including VPN services. , if the Russian legislation continues to be ignored,

The racist official believes that many foreign sources popular in Russia (for example, Wikipedia) are information weapons in the West’s hands. Second, it appears to deliberately distort facts and provide unreliable information.

On the other hand, they will become more and more immersed in the reality invented by propaganda, which is becoming increasingly difficult to disprove.
