The Great Firewall of China is a server complex consisting of security management systems, crime reporting systems, entry and exit control systems, information monitoring systems, and traffic management systems. The combination of these gives the Chinese government full control over the lives of its citizens, online and offline. Authorities know every movement within the country, every message on the internet, use of prohibited sources, block a large part of foreign internet including all social networks, many Western news sites and much more.
Russia wants its own firewall
Russia narrowly escaped Chinese “democracy”, but never fully regained control of the local Internet Runet. Efforts to separate the population from the influence of Western media and users led to the idea of ββββhis own “Golden Shields”. Artem Sheykin, a member of the constitutional committee of the Federation Council, proposed the creation of a traffic blocking system in Russia that would work by analogy with the Greater China Firewall. According to him, this will make it possible to reliably prevent the work of bypassing the means of blocking especially foreign VPN services.
I consider the need for an analogue of the “Chinese firewall” in the Russian Federation, which, taking into account the unprecedented pressure from Western countries, openly hostile policy, can completely block access to unwanted Internet resources, including VPN services. , if the Russian legislation continues to be ignored,
– Says Shaykin.
The racist official believes that many foreign sources popular in Russia (for example, Wikipedia) are information weapons in the West’s hands. Second, it appears to deliberately distort facts and provide unreliable information.
The blocking system operating in China makes it possible to effectively limit access to many foreign resources. Almost all Google services, popular social networks (eg Twitter), messengers and mass media do not work in this country.
it is already known that a few months ago, several dozen Chinese IT specialists trying to implement a similar system came to Russia to advise Roskomnadzor.. This is very good news, because the “Great Russian Firewall” has the ability to make it so that Russian users no longer see it on the Internet. They won’t be able to use a VPN to bypass the blocking and still be on Twitter or Facebook. On the other hand, they will become more and more immersed in the reality invented by propaganda, which is becoming increasingly difficult to disprove.
