The State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine warned on May 9 of a possible intensification of offensive hacker attacks.

As Ukrinform reports, the State Special Communications Service reports in a Telegram.

“It’s not just bullets and bullets that die. A smartphone or computer hacked by Russian hackers is also a murder weapon, it only has a delayed effect. Russian hackers often aggravate on the eve and holidays. In Civil Service.

Not only government agencies and critical infrastructure are at risk. Many cyber attacks target ordinary users. As the State Special Service explained, during the war, every Ukrainian “potentially could become an entry point for hackers in the country’s information infrastructure.”

Also, during the holidays, ordinary cybercriminals become more active whose purpose is to steal money, gain access to accounts and blackmail users.

To protect yourself against cyber attacks, you should change passwords on all important services – mail, messaging, smartphone – as soon as possible.

The State Special Communications Service said, “Do it now. There must be a separate password to log into each service and mailbox.”

You should also check your browser security settings (in Google Chrome, this means “Settings – Privacy & Security”) to see if your passwords have been compromised.

Compromised passwords should be changed immediately. Changing passwords identified as weak is also important. It is recommended to use a password generator for this. This is on Cyberpolis’ website.

The State Special Communications Service recommends the establishment of a separate post office for “mails” and other messages.

This mail is not recommended for account registration on social networks and other sensitive services containing private information.

Also, especially from Russian sites, torrents, etc. downloaded, it is necessary to remove all hacked programs.

It is recommended to set up two-factor authentication in messengers, mail, and other services to know when someone will try to log into your account.

You cannot open messages from strangers, follow links, send calls to action from strangers (follow a link, download a file, provide a card number, phone number, enter a password from the mail, etc.).

The State Special Communications Service urges citizens to trust only verified sources – official websites of government agencies, local authorities, the media and verified accounts on social networks (verified ones have a special blue mark next to the account name).

Do not open letters about sweepstakes, winnings, government assistance and other free promises to avoid cyber attacks.

Password from accounts, phone, SIM card or bank card is a personal secret.

“Don’t trust anyone, don’t keep them on your smartphone (if you can’t remember them, write them down on a piece of paper),” advises the State Special Communications Service.

If possible, you should use physical account protection tools – qualified electronic signature (QES), passwordless authorization, etc. with safe environment. Ukrainian developers also have such solutions.

You need to check which devices are working in social networks, mail, messenger. This can be done in the security and privacy settings.

You should also install an antivirus on your smartphone and computer.

State Special Communications Service, “Scan the device. Right now. Don’t forget to update it when it asks for it.” Said.

It is recommended that you install the software update on your smartphone or computer as soon as it arrives.

It is also necessary to close all loopholes for the enemy, especially now uninstall the Russian software and install Ukrainian instead.

The State Special Communications Service emphasizes: “This is not a whim, but a security issue, because Russian services collect information about Ukrainian users.”

You can find out what to change on the portal.

Backup important information should be backed up to external media: documents, photos, etc. It is also important not to forget to backup your smartphones.

In case of theft, you must immediately report the cyber attack:

Cyberpolis – callcenter@cyberpolice.gov.ua;

Government CERT-UA Computer Emergency Response Team – cert@cert.gov.ua.

As Ukrinform reports, cybercriminals are sending new letters en masse with a virus that steals data and frightens people with a chemical attack.
