New REACT feature for WhatsApp
The functionality will allow users of the messaging app to use emoji to respond to messages in conversations, whether in groups or privately – similar to what is already happening on Instagram, another company of the Meta group. Initially, only the emoji shown in Zuckerberg’s post will be allowed, but more reactions will be added to the emoji catalog in the future.
The six initial responses are: thumbs up, heart, crying with laughter, fear, sadness, and gratitude. The user selects the post they want to react to and selects one of the emojis that best reflects their emotions about the post.
