Former US President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that if he wins the 2024 election, he will sign an executive order on his first day in the White House to end automatic citizenship for children of immigrants who do not have legal immigration status in the United States.
“As part of my plan to secure the border, on the first day of my new term, I will sign an executive order clarifying to federal agencies that, with the correct interpretation of the law, future children of illegal immigrants will not automatically receive US citizenship,” he said in a video recorded from his home in Palm Bah, Florida.
With this measure, Trump intends to end important incentive for illegal immigration” and “dissuade” those who plan to enter the US illegally from traveling.

The former president is one of six candidates to participate in the primaries for election Republican nominee in the 2024 presidential election
The former president has made many statements about migration if he returns to the White House. In the previous term, he performed immigration policy very restrictive, like Section 42, which was recently repealed.
Another Republican candidate Ron DeSantis who also made important statements about migration should he become president.
“We will close the border, we will build a wall on the border (…) we will make cartels [mexicanos] hold them accountable,” the Republican presidential candidate said in a statement on his candidacy.
