Sony has been rumored for the past few to announce a new PS5 exclusive coming to PC soon, and it’s going to be a big name. Today we finally got to know the name Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and we already have the important details all technologies that this game will support.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart was one of the first next-gen titles to hit the PS5 soon after its release, and there’s no doubt that it helped Sony view the progress of your new console at the hardware level. I remember this title getting a lot of hype because of the non-stop dimensional jumps, and it was marketed as something that was only possible with an SSD.
It’s true that an SSD helps with these types of transitions, but eventually That’s not to say that you can’t do it without PS5 hardware. Jon Burton, founder of TT Games, explained that these jumps could also occur on previous consoles that housed these two different buffers and resorted to background loading tasks to compensate for the shortcomings of hard drives compared to SSDs.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is coming to PC July 26and will have exclusive features and technologies that were not present in the PS5 version, among which we can highlight:
We still don’t have details on the minimum requirements this title will have, but since it was a PS5 exclusive it is clear that it will be quite challenging. At a minimum, I imagine we’ll need a quad-core, eight-thread processor, 8GB of RAM, and either a 6GB GeForce GTX 1060 or an 8GB Radeon RX 580. Recommended requirements would be a 6-core, 12-thread processor, 16GB of RAM, and either a Radeon RX 6600 XT or GeForce RTX 2070 Super.
Just below those lines, you’ll find the trailer Sony used to announce the PC version of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Truth is, I find it odd that they decided to bring this title to PC instead of Demon’s Souls Remake, especially since it hit the market earlier and therefore more time has passed since its launch.
I think there is an explanation for this, which is that Sony will eventually prefer the PS5 with exclusivity, and that means that not all will come to PC. Bloodborne may be one to stay on PlayStation forever and the same will happen with Demon’s Souls Remake.
