Asus is launching a new router and mesh solution, both aimed at smaller businesses or home offices.

Asus introduces the ExpertWiFi EBM68 and EBR63. Both solutions aim to provide easy connectivity for SMEs. Asus relies on security and entry management for the routers, so you don’t have to be an IT expert to get started.

Mesh and classic router

The Asus ExpertWiFi EBM68 is a tri-band AX7800 mesh system consisting of multiple nodes. Asus is thus targeting medium-sized companies or locations with several floors. The Asus ExpertWiFi EBR63 is a more traditional dual-band AX3000 router tailored for smaller spaces like (home) offices.

Both devices have similar functionality on board. For example, the built-in software allows you to create up to five different SSIDs (wireless networks). For example, you can set up guest networks, employee networks, IoT device networks and more across the devices at the same time, which increases security. The Scenario Explorer is a supplied tool that also makes it easier for laypeople to get started with network segmentation and, for example, to set up a guest network with their own login portal.

Asus also offers built-in VPN connectivity over various protocols, including L2TP/IPSec, PPTP, Open VPN, and WireGuard. This allows you to establish a secure remote connection to one of the configured networks.

security and administration

When it comes to security, Asus has teamed up with Trend Micro Air Protection Professional. This solution keeps unwanted elements out, ensures secure settings and protects surfing via the router.

The manufacturer continues to promise easy handling. This can be done via the ExpertWifi app or via an administrator account that spans multiple ExpertWifi devices. This allows you to deploy the routers to different branch offices and still manage them from one account.

Finally, another interesting function catches the eye: If the Internet fails, you can connect an Android phone or iPhone to the router via cable and thus share the mobile Internet with the entire office.

The new routers will arrive in our regions in July. There is currently no suggested retail price. Asus has something to do with these routers after several devices became unusable due to a buggy update earlier this month.
