The top model, the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra, has a full screen on the top. The phone will be available from June 5th.
Motorola is launching two foldable smartphones this year. The Razr 40 goes all out to make foldable phones a little more affordable, while the Razr 40 Ultra pulls out all the stops with its big display up front.
Motorola Razr 40 Ultra
Inside, the top model has a 6.9-inch OLED screen with a refresh rate of 165 Hz when you open the device. That’s nice in itself, but the screen up front steals the show with the camera lenses that protrude through the screen. The compact OLED screen measures a generous 3.6 inches and also has a fast refresh rate of 165 Hz. Gorilla Glass Victus is said to protect the screen from scratches and limited fall damage on the outside.
It is noticeable that Motorola does not install the brand new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. On board we find last year’s top chip: Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. That seems like a downgrade, but the performance boost is pretty small between the two. The two front cameras are a 12 MP (f/1.5) and a 13 MP (f/2.2) wide-angle camera.
According to Motorola, the folding screen looks almost seamless inside thanks to the use of “Ultra Thin Glass.” On the back you have a choice of a matte finish or vegan leather. The Motorola Razr 40 Ultra supports 30W “Fast Charge” and 5W wireless charging.

While the Ultra offers top specifications, the Motorola Razr 40 has to make do with a little less. What is immediately noticeable is the smaller screen. Instead of the full front, what you get here is a small strip of information, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Flip range.
The housing is almost identical, so that a 6.9-inch OLED display is also installed here. With the Razr 40, Motorola uses a slightly less powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chip. The wide-angle camera is the same, but the main camera is different: 64 MP (f/1.7).
The biggest advantage of this model is the battery capacity. The Motorola Razr 40 has 4,200 mAh on board, which is slightly more than the 3,800 mAh in the Ultra. Again, the phone supports 30-watt “fast charging” and 5-watt wireless charging.
price and availability
Motorola brings both phones to the Benelux countries. The Motorola Razr 40 Ultra appears first in the store. From June 5 you can buy the phone at the recommended retail price of 1,199 euros including VAT. Colors available: red, black and blue.
The Motorola Razr 40 will appear in July and has a recommended retail price of 899 euros including VAT. Colors available: green, cream and purple.
