Starlink “V2 mini” satellites are more powerful versions of their Starlink predecessors.
According to the company, the new satellites provide more bandwidth and are equipped with Hall-effect electric motors that have more than twice the thrust of old vehicles.
The Hall effect engine is a type of electrostatic rocket engine that uses the Hall effect (enclosed entrainment of electrons).
More than 4,000 Starlink satellites are already in orbit, and the company has regulatory approval to launch another 12,000.
However, SpaceX has applied for permission to add 30,000 more satellites to the project.
