WWDC 2023 (Worldwide Developers Conference) kicks off on June 5th when Apple is expected to unveil its mixed reality headset to the world. Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman reported that Apple is looking for experts in generative AIwith a job posting that seems to indicate the use of AI in some kind of virtual reality device.

The job description indicates the company’s interest in apply conversational and generative artificial intelligence technologies in a mixed reality headset. Since Apple’s headset is expected to be unveiled on June 5, it makes sense that the job posting is related to Reality Pro (device name unconfirmed).

• “The Apple Learning Technology Group is looking for Machine Learning Engineers with experience and/or interest in conversational and generative AI. You’ll use innovative templates to build apps based on Apple’s most advanced technologies while gaining augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR) experiences.“.

It’s still too early to tell what Apple’s real goal is when opening a job, but recent rumors indicate that Apple wants users to create their own apps on the headset using Siri, and the job description matches the rumors. We’re still in pure speculation territory, but with the start of WWDC 2023, we should have concrete answers about Apple’s plans beyond the official Reality Pro announcement.

The mixed reality headset is supposed to will hit the market for $3,000. It is reported that the device has three screens, two of them microLED 4K, and will be able to switch between augmented and virtual reality modes. Apparently, Apple is also working on a second generation of Reality Pro that will be cheaper and more accessible to the general public. Only three days are left before WWDC 2023 and the likely announcement of Apple’s VR/AR headset, and until then, we can only hold on to worry.
