That day has come. Apple is unveiling itself and its first mixed reality glasses, the Vision Pro, along with associated Macs with the 15″ MacBook Air and M2 Ultra. iPhone’s operating system has been renewed. For developers of iOS 17, the first version is now available (with iPadOS 17) and comes with significant changes mainly related to the availability of native apps.
Facetime changes completely
Firstly, Change the way you receive calls on iPhone. With iOS 17 we will have fully personalized screens for our contacts. We will be able to choose your photo, note and name with the font we choose.
Our Contacts app There will be cards for each person (as long as we want to customize them). The style is practically the same as the customization of the lock screen that comes with iOS 16, so we will have very intuitive controls to access all fonts, fonts and more.
Likewise, it will be possible to have real-time decoding of conversations. A function designed for accessibility but available to all users.
A smarter Photos app
The Photos app allows you to turn photos into stickers as well as add stickers to your own photos.
air drop
AirDrop is also getting a major refresh. As of iOS 17 we have the NameDrop feature. We will be able to share addresses, contacts and more personal data in a detailed personalized file. Basically contact card for 2023.
In case we receive a large file and move away from contact, the phone uses an internet connection (not internet + Bluetooth) to actively continue downloading and sending files.
Finally, improvements in autocorrect
The iPhone’s predictive keyboard has (finally) been revamped, thanks to Apple’s new auto-learning models. Apple promises that corrections will now be more precise, adding real-time suggestions about words we might want to include in the sentence. It also improves dictation faster and more precisely thanks to this model.
Journal, a new app that cares about our well-being
Journal is a new app that wisely chooses photos, music, workouts, podcasts and even places we might want to visit. The point is that we can create entries and keep a log. The data on it is protected, and Apple promises that even they won’t have access to it.
Improvements to Always on Display mode
HE Always On Display mode Updated iPhone to work in landscape. In addition to having new functions at the interface level, there is a function called Waiting. It is mainly intended to function as a desk clock with deep integration with live events. Second, it will allow apps to send their status to Always on Display to get real-time information about them.
This mode will be activated automatically when our phone is charging and in landscape position. As with the Always on Display itself, we can disable it at any time if we are concerned about the lifetime of our OLED panel.
More news about iOS 17
iOS 17 Saying goodbye to the date “Hey Siri”. Finally, just say “Siri” for the voice assistant to obey us. There are no signs of rumors that Apple is open to external downloads and third-party stores. It will remain a closed system by and for Apple by the Apple app store.
The new version will be available to developers soon, but we will still have to wait to get it stable on our iPhone. The latter shouldn’t happen until at least the next rollout event for the iPhone 15, scheduled for September or October.
