European Vice-President Vera Jourova (Czech Republic – S&D) wants AI-generated content to be labeled. First, they look to companies like Google, Microsoft, and Meta. They have signed the EU code of conduct against disinformation.

As part of this, Jourova expects companies to implement mechanisms to anticipate problems over the course of the next month. On the one hand, technologies such as Bard, Bingchat and ChatGPT must be protected against misuse, on the other hand, the technology must ensure that content created by AI is recognizable to users.

With the rapid rise of AI technology, the EU is trying to put in place a legal framework, but even at best it will take time. As Jourova awaits the introduction of the AI ​​law, she is now trying to use existing rules to encourage companies to take some responsibility.

A key absentee from the whole story is Twitter, which only recently distanced itself from the European code of conduct. “By doing so, Twitter drew a lot of attention to its actions and compliance with European laws. Twitter is under urgent and detailed surveillance,” she said.
