Apple announced iOS 17 during the opening of WWDC 2023, bringing a number of new products to users. This year the company has bet on a more solid update and with a good set of improvements, focus on refining resources and meeting core requirements from iPhone lovers.

One of the highlights of the new update is the App Journal, a tool that works like a personal digital diary. This application allows users to register contacts, music, locations, photos, podcasts and exercise data, providing privacy with comprehensive data protection.

Standby mode, phone app and more

Another notable feature is the standby mode. When the iPhone is charged, the device’s interface is horizontal, displaying the time, notifications, weather, alarms and other details in a larger size. The user can customize the idle screen by setting the font, background, theme, and adding widgets to the section that can be switched using gestures.

Phone calls have also changed in iOS 17. With the Contact Posters feature, users can define custom screens for each contact, changing the display when they receive a call. This new feature can also be adopted by other calling apps such as WhatsApp and Telegram via an API.

FaceTime in iOS 17 introduces a new short video messaging feature that makes the experience more interactive and Snapchat-like. This feature allows users to send and receive video messages lasting several seconds.

Improved iMessage and AirDrop

iMessage has also received major improvements. You can now respond to messages with gestures, decode audio messages, and even perform auto-registration, where the tool allows you to automatically notify relatives or friends when a user arrives at a specific location. Another novelty is live stickers, which provide a new experience for using stickers on iPhone.

Finally, the iOS 17 virtual keyboard has been enhanced with artificial intelligence to make autocorrect even better by suggesting word suggestions in context with a sentence.

Apple is making several changes in iOS 17, and activating Siri will be one of them, changing the way you interact with Assistant since 2011.
