The Radeon RX 7700 XT will be the successor to the Radeon RX 6700 XT and will be positioned as upper mid-range graphics card. This means that it will be designed to play optimally in 1440p, although it will be able to move quite well in 4K resolution if we adjust the graphic quality a little in the most demanding titles of today.
On an architectural level, the Radeon RX 7700 XT will be based on RDNA3, specifically the Navi 32 chip, which means it will adopt modular design with self-contained GPU and a total of four L3 cache chiplets (16MB each). All of these elements will come in the same package as we saw with the Radeon RX 7900 XT and Radeon RX 7900 XTX.
Compared to Radeon RX 6700 XT, Radeon RX 7700 XT will have much more shaders (2560 vs 3456), and it would also have all the new features introduced by the RDNA2 architecture, among which we can highlight the increased ray tracing performance achieved by the new second generation accelerator cores. The performance difference between the two will be noticeable if these specs are confirmed.
Generally speaking, the Radeon RX 7700 XT should offer performance similar to Radeon RX 6800, although it has 12 GB of graphics memory and a smaller bus, the differences between them will be more striking in 4K resolution and in titles that consume a lot of memory. In the latter case, the Radeon RX 6800 could end up being somewhat higher.
That would be his most logical position in the performance, as early information suggests Radeon RX 7800 will work like GeForce RTX 4070and that’s on par with the GeForce RTX 3080-Radeon RX 6800 XT.
The launch date is a mystery, but everything seems to indicate that the Radeon RX 7700 XT could hit the market in the third quarter of this year. Its price will range around 529 dollars, a figure that could happen in Spain 549 euros after applying taxes and currency conversion.
