Google has released another patch to close a new zero-day vulnerability.

Another zero-day vulnerability was discovered in the Google Chrome browser. Google has now released a new patch to close the leak.

The problem

This new zero-day was discovered on June 1st and mentioned in a security report four days later. The exploit had the code CVE-2023-3079. Not many details are known at this time, but Google has revealed that the problem lies in Chrome’s V8 JavaScript engine.

Notably, this is the third zero-day in Chrome in just a few months. Google faced similar problems last year. For example, the recently removed lock icon in the browser has a slightly ironic meaning.

What to do

Users should update now to fix this issue. The patch is part of Chrome 114.0.5735.110 for Windows. Linux and Mac users, on the other hand, should pay attention to version 114.0.5735.106.

If the automatic update is not finished yet, you can start it manually. Click the three dots in the top right corner of the browser, go to Help, then About Google Chrome. The update is currently rolling out. Therefore, if it is not available to you immediately, you may have to try more than once.
