OnePlus, Oppo and Realme are now completely separate companies

We already know that Chinese smartphone brands OnePlus, Oppo and Realme fall under BBK Electronics. However, this seems to be changing now as the parent company makes each of these companies completely individual.

OnePlus, Oppo and Realme are technically no longer the same brand

BBK recently announced that the three smartphone manufacturers will now operate as completely separate entities. Interestingly, this news also comes as the Indian government tries to tighten its grip on Chinese tech giants. For those who don’t know, the Internal Revenue Service has accused various Chinese brands of various illegal business practices, including customs violations, money laundering, tax evasion, and more.

Oppo India was recently accused of evading customs duties worth approximately $531 million USD. This comes as a blow to BBK considering it is also responsible for Oppo’s operations in India and even distribution of OnePlus and Realme branded products in the region.

So now BBK Electronics is making the three companies completely separate, each with its own legal company. This includes OnePlus and Realme Mobile Telecommunications technology in India. As each firm is technically separate from each other, BBK Electronics will now face less risk to its business operations in the region, while OnePlus and Realme are currently seeking new contract manufacturers and also entering into individual contracts with retailers and distributors.
