The American company Thermetrics has developed a robot that can “breathe, sweat and vibrate” for use by researchers at Arizona State University (ASU).
As reported by Ukrinform, reported Independent.
The device, called ANDI, was created to help researchers better understand the effects of extreme temperatures on the human body.
ANDI sweats, generates heat, shivers, walks and breathes. “We’re trying to develop a very good understanding of how heat affects the human body so we can design things to address that,” said Konrad Rykaczewski, principal investigator of the project at ASU.
Some of the dozen or so robots currently able to “sweat” are said to be used by companies to test clothes, but ANDI is the only robot that can be used outdoors.
This allows researchers to conduct experiments in conditions of extreme heat that were previously impossible, as well as to study the effects of solar radiation.
“The thermoregulation of a diabetic patient is different from that of a healthy person. So we can explain all these changes with our individual models,” added another researcher, Ankit Joshi.
As reported by Ukrinform, Tokyo initiative Preferred Robotics Inc. introduced Kachaka, the robot with artificial intelligence, to help at home.
