Prosecutors Notify Trump of Investigation of Secret Documents

In recent weeks, U.S. Attorney’s have notified the former president’s legal team. Donald Trump on ongoing research related to work with classified information after he left the presidency of the country, media reported.

This notice, whose exact delivery date is unknown to Trump, is intended to notify the person under investigation that threatened with criminal prosecution according to sources consulted by the ABC television network.

The notification usually opens the door for defense lawyers to ask to meet with prosecutors to offer their side of the story. So this Monday, Trump’s three lawyers met with Special Counsel Jack Smith for almost two hours and others in the Department of Justice.

Lawyers for the defendants described the meeting as last attempt to avoid blame and point out what they consider to be misconduct during the prosecutor’s investigation.

Newspaper New York Times contacted Trump directly to ask if he had been told he would be impeached, to which he replied that “It wasn’t true.” Asked if he was told he was under federal investigation, he did not answer directly, saying he “should understand” that he was not in direct contact with prosecutors.

Trump has repeatedly denied wrongdoing and he claims that his enemies are targeting him. “I did NOTHING wrong, but I assumed for years that I was the target of an armed Department of Justice and the FBI,” the former president said on his social networks shortly after the aforementioned newspaper contacted him.

The US government found that Trump had over 300 classified documents at his residence in Mar-a-Lago, Florida. Much of the investigation into the documents has been carried out by a grand jury in Washington, which has heard numerous witnesses in recent months, including some of Trump’s White House advisers, some Mar-a-Lago employees, and more than 20 members of his secret service’s security team.
