Meta development director Chris Cox described the upcoming service as “our answer to Twitter.” It will use the Instagram account system to automatically fill in the user information. The internal codename of the project is “Project 92”, not “Barcelona” as previously reported. The generic name might be Topics if the internal documentation is to be believed, but that doesn’t seem to have been decided yet.

said Chris Cox, throwing a direct punch at Elon Musk’s Twitter management, garnering applause from the audience.

He says the company’s goal when creating the service was “security, ease of use, reliability” and to provide creators “a stable place to build and grow their audience.”

It was also learned that the company has attracted the attention of celebrities who use the app, including DJ Slime, and is in talks with other famous people, including Oprah and the Dalai Lama.

According to Cox, “coding for the app started in January” and Meta will make it available “as soon as possible.”
