Although at the last Google I/O 2023, we expected some progress on the Pixel 8Tech seems to have thought that many of the new devices were already focused on, with the Pixel 7a, Pixel Tablet and the expected Pixel Fold, so they preferred to save it for later. Let us recall that last year the then undisclosed Pixel 7 was advanced to Google I/O 2022, despite the fact that they will not hit the market until October.

It is also possible that after the experience of last year, they decided that the first presentation of the generation four months before the launch is too early, and therefore decided to reconsider the advance calendar, notifications, etc., which would certainly make a lot of sense. In any case, we can expect the Google Pixel 8 to hit the market in the first weeks of autumn this year, probably in early October.

So, and although the summer break will also be noted in this sense, We expect new leaks in the next few monthsAlthough the Pixels have never reached the category of bestsellers, they are devices that have gained fans generation after generation, in addition, they arouse great curiosity among many other users who, although they are not thinking about buying them, want to be informed about the news from Google in the smartphone market .

Although it is still months away from its arrival, we have already seen some leaks about the Pixel 8, such as one that pointed to the use of a custom AMD Radeon GPU or one that points to a continuous design line, albeit with minor changes. Added to the previous ones is a new leak published by Android Authority which reveals many aspects about the Google Pixel 8 camera. And based on this data, we can expect a very significant improvement.

It’s well known that Google is putting a lot of emphasis on photo computing to significantly improve image quality, and that it has yielded excellent results. However, the improvement of the physical elements of the equation, i.e. camera sensors, also plays a determining role. For the future Pixel 8, both the standard version and the Pro model, Google is going to replace the widescreen Samsung GN1 with the newer Samsung GN2, of the same resolution (50 megapixels), but larger. This is reflected in his ability captures about 35% more lightwhich translates into brighter images and shorter exposure times.

The Google Pixel 8 Pro will also see a significant improvement in ultra-wide shooting, from the 12-megapixel Sony IMX386 in the 7 Pro to brand new Sony IMX787 none other than 64 megapixels and that it is able to provide level 0.49x zoomcompared to a factor of 0.56x over its predecessor. In the standard Pixel 8, the IMX386 will be retained, although its zoom level has been adjusted to become 0.55x compared to the Pixel 7’s 0.67x factor.

According to this leak, there will be no hardware change to the Pixel 8 Pro’s telephoto lens, the 48-megapixel Samsung GM5 with a 5x zoom ratio, and nor in the front camera sensor on both models11 megapixel Samsung 3J1. However, this does not mean that we should not expect news in this regard, because, as I already mentioned, photo computing functions are another element of the camera in the Pixels.
