Salesforce spices up the entire portfolio with generative AI

Foreclosure

Salesforce can’t get enough of Generative AI. In addition to pre-built applications, customers can also access LLMs to build their own applications on the AI Cloud.

If you thought that Salesforce was done adding generative AI to its platforms after last week’s announcements, you were wrong. With the announcement of the AI Cloud, Salesforce takes it a step further. The AI Cloud crosses the entire portfolio of the CRM specialist with turnkey AI applications.

The full list of AI Assistants in Salesforce apps now sounds as follows: Sales GPT, Service GPT, Marketing GPT, Commerce GPT, Slack GPT, Tableau GPT, Flow GPT, and Apex GPT. All of these tools provide sales and marketing teams with ready-to-use AI applications to serve each customer individually. The head of the AI offering is Einstein GPT, which launched in March.

Bring your own model

Because companies sometimes like to work with AI themselves to build their own applications, Salesforce will also allow access to LLMs via the AI cloud. In addition to models developed by Salesforce, such as CodeGen, CodeT5+ and CodeTF, third-party models are also welcome. The press release mentions OpenAI, Anthropic, Cohere and AWS, among others, who have launched a similar platform with Bedrock.

If you happen to have a homebuilt LLM lying around, you can also connect it to the Salesforce AI Cloud. In this case, the data remains on your own infrastructure.

Reliable AI

The AI Cloud stands for reliable AI, emphasizes Salesforce in the press release. A study commissioned by the company shows that organizations are open to experimenting with generative AI but are reluctant to do so for security reasons. News reports of strange artificial intelligence behavior raise legitimate questions about the safety of the technology.

Salesforce therefore adds one trust layer to Einstein GPT. This mechanism is designed to prevent LLMs from storing sensitive customer data. This separation between sensitive data and the LLM helps customers stay in control of the data.

The AI Cloud will be available from June 2023. The various components will be introduced step by step.
