A group of supporters of presidential candidate Ron DeSantis gathered in front of the Walt Disney World theme park in central Florida with Nazi flags over the weekend, local media reported Monday.
Videos compiled by USA Today show just over a dozen supporters of the Florida governor and Republican primary candidate demonstrating on Saturday with pro-candidacy placards and swastika flags at the entrance to a theme park.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office, where the Disney theme parks are located, confirmed in a statement that the march was led by members of “these groups that seek to agitate and incite people with anti-Semitic symbols and slurs.”

According to the authorities, two counter-protesters positioned themselves near the participants of this rally, which went on for about two hours without incident or detention.
The governor’s office, which campaigned outside of Florida over the weekend, has yet to comment on the march, as has Florida Democratic Congresswoman Anna Escamani, who tweeted photos of the protesters.
“It’s absolutely disgusting to see the Nazis become a common sight in Florida, and even more disturbing when they hold signs and flags indicating their support for people like Governor DeSantis,” the Orlando MP said.

The Florida governor maintains a connection, which has reached the courts, with the Disney group after one of its managers criticized a law banning gender identity and sexual orientation in Florida schools, a rule known for its detractors such as “Don’t I say gay” “.
In response, DeSantis signed into law a bill repealing the self-government that Disney had enjoyed in Florida for over 50 years and created a new board of his own choosing.
Last month, Florida’s governor confirmed his nomination in the GOP primary to pick a candidate in the 2024 presidential election, in which Democrat Joe Biden, incumbent, will seek re-election.
According to the polls, former President Donald Trump (2017-2021) is the favorite among the Republicans, behind whom DeSantis is quite far behind.
Last week, Trump became the first US president to face federal charges for possessing classified documents he took with him to his Florida residence after his term in the White House ended.
