A little over two months have passed since then ASUS will announce, surprising us all, its ASUS ROG Allywith which the technology company decided to make a leap into the market of portable gaming consoles, which until a few years ago seemed to be completely pushed out of the spotlight, but which has since been revitalized and still today enjoys a flow and speed of innovation that will never stop us to amaze.

That ASUS chose April Fools’ Day to make the first announcement of its ASUS ROG Ally was a fun and wise move at the same time, in my opinion, because it first made us think it would be great if said device was real. only to confirm a few days later that this was indeed the case. And precisely its technical specifications made it clear to us from the first moment that the company’s intention is to compete at the top of the table, in which, according to these specifications, it is above the vast majority of devices on those facing

Let’s recall that ASUS decided to command this ROG Ally AMD Ryzen Z1 and Z1 Extreme APUs, the latter being the first to hit the market. This integrated has a CPU of o 8 cores / 16 threads and 24 MB cache, capable of scaling up to 5.10 gigahertzalong with Radeon GPU with architecture RDNA 3, 12 CU, up to 2.7 gigahertz and up to 8.6 teraflops. AMD defines this Ryzen Z1 Extreme as the most powerful APU it has designed so far. This integration is based on 16 GB LPDDR5 RAM (6,400 MT/s dual channel) and 512 gigabytes of NVME PCIe 4.0 storage.

The visible face of the ASUS ROG Ally is a multi-touch screen (10 current points) IPS level 7 inches diagonally with full HD resolution (1920 x 1080, 16:9), 500 nits brightness, remarkable response time 7 milliseconds and refresh rate 120 hertz. It allows representing 100% of the sRGB color space and reaches up to 75.35% of AdobeRGB. In order to guarantee your safety, it is additionally protected Gorilla Glass DXC.

When it comes to controls, and as you can see from the images, the ASUS ROG Ally integrates everything you’d expect and more:

And if you’re wondering how portable this pocket console is, you’ll be surprised to know that it weighs just 608 grams.

So, in summary, there are two things that we can confirm without fear of being wrong. It’s the first one ASUS shows that it is going all out in the portable gaming console market, with performance that is little or nothing more than a complete PC, but in a form that is especially suitable for playing games. And the second is that the ROG family of devices maintains the excellent level we are already used to.
