Philips has introduced a new monitor with a 5K2K resolution (5,120 x 2,160 pixels) in its range for the first time. The Philips 40B1U6903UH features a light curve (2500R) and a 21:9 ratio for convenient multitasking. The IPS panel measures exactly 39.7 inches and has a refresh rate of 75 Hz.

According to the manufacturer, the 40B1U6903CH has a peak brightness of 300 nits with a contrast ratio of 1,000:1. Thanks to a color gamut of 134% sRGB and 98% DCI-P3, the monitor is suitable for creative professionals. Despite the limited brightness, the screen supports the HDR10 standard.

There is no shortage of connections on the back of the Philips 40B1U6903UH: 2x USB-C (Thunderbolt 4), 2x HDMI (v2.0), 1x DisplayPort (v1.4) and six USB-A ports. For those who use a headset frequently, there is a small bracket that slides out of the monitor. In the top center there is space for a Windows Hello-compatible webcam for facial recognition.

So much technology comes at a price. The Philips 40B1U6903UH has a suggested retail price of €1,849 including VAT and will be available in the Benelux later this month.

Earlier this year, Philips announced an even bigger monitor. Under the designation Philips 45B1U6900C SuperWide you get a 44.5-inch screen with a screen ratio of 32:9 and a resolution of 5,120 x 1,440 pixels. This monitor is available now and costs 1,089 euros including VAT.
