The website of the Port of Rotterdam has been the target of a cyber-attack by Russian-linked hackers.

This was reported by Ukrinform with reference to Bloomberg.

“Last week, the website of the Port of Rotterdam was the target of a cyberattack in which hackers linked to Russia were accused,” the report said.

Several Dutch ports, including Amsterdam and Groningen, have suffered denial-of-service attacks known as DDoS, according to the port authority.

It was noted that the port of Rotterdam received information from the Dutch National Cyber Security Center that pro-Russian groups were responsible for the attack.

Dutch news agency RTL, which first reported the incident, said a hacker group called “NoName057(16)” claimed the attacks were carried out in response to Dutch plans to purchase Swiss tanks for Ukraine.

Earlier this year, special services warned that Dutch naval infrastructure could be threatened by Russia.

The Port of Amsterdam website was down for more than an hour on 6 June, while the ports of Groningen experienced network outages for two days.

According to spokespersons, no ransom was paid by the ports to the attackers and no data was stolen.

According to the information received by the Port of Rotterdam from the service provider, the attacks were carried out from Russian and Serbian IP addresses.

As Ukrinform reported, the defense ministers of Northern European countries in Amsterdam discussed the issue of protecting underwater infrastructure and providing more support to Ukraine.

The defense ministers of Denmark, Finland, Estonia, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Sweden and Norway met in the Dutch capital on 13 June.
