Last Wednesday (14) Google announced a new feature that aims to help users make purchases online. Called “TryOnDiffusion”, it uses artificial intelligence to allow virtual shoppers to try on clothes on various real models before making a purchase.

The technology launched by the company aims to solve a common problem in e-commerce where 59% of online shoppers are unhappy with an item they purchased because it doesn’t look as expected.

A new feature launched by a company that originally available to US consumersallows users see how clothes will look on different body types, skin tones, nationalities and hair types. Google photographed 40 men and 40 women in different sizes (from XXS to 4XL) to provide a diverse and comprehensive view of consumers.

Several brands available for use at this first moment

When searching for “women’s tops” on Google, the results show up with a “Try on” icon, which opens a product viewer where people can select multiple designs to see the product. At first, only women’s blouses from brands such as Anthropologie, Everlane, H&M and LOFT will be available, but the catalog will expand soon.

“Working alongside our Shopping Graph, the world’s most comprehensive product and merchant data set, this technology can be extended to more brands and products over time. Check out more virtual clothing test options, including the best products coming out this year.” , the company stressed.

Google has also introduced new assistive search filters that allow consumers to refine products until they find the perfect product. Using machine learning and new visual matching algorithms, users can refine products by color, style, and pattern while browsing across multiple stores online.

TryOnDiffusion technology is a breakthrough in the application of AI for online shopping. It’s not just a digital copy and paste of assets onto photos of models using geometric warping or other technology. Google makes sure it uses the template to place resources in the templates, providing a more realistic experience for users.
