New features of Google Lens
- Google Lens, which was recently included in image search, is no longer just for plants, objects and historical objects. After uploading your photo to Lens, the system will traditionally show you similar images. But now this may be useful, for example, when identifying a tick bite or other skin disease, with visible manifestations – for example, in the form of spots.
Of course, this technology does not replace doctors. The company always emphasizes that in such cases the feature is only there to help the problem and raise awareness. However, as often happens, further investigation can lead to incorrect self-diagnosis and self-treatment.
- Google is also expanding its search capabilities to make it easier to find the products you need while shopping online. Now you you can search among different retailers by filters such as style, color and pattern.
- Once you find what you’re looking for, Google will try to eliminate the main problem of buying clothes online: uncertainty about how it will look on you. The company has released a new one virtual assembly tool, will show you how the same clothes will look on different models. The program uses generative artificial intelligence techniques to show how the fabric fits and looks. Currently only available when top is purchased from select retailers such as H&M, Everlane, Anthropologie, and Loft.
- The company is also introducing a number of new travel-focused features. For starters, it extends Immersive View, a tool that lets you explore a realistic 3D model of a city. Florence, Venice, Dublin and Amsterdam have been added to the list of available cities. This feature also allows you to get closer to 500 landmarks worldwide. Immersive View already works for hundreds of attractions, as well as cities like Tokyo and New York.
- Whether you have an iOS or Android phone, Google is also rolling out a feature that lets you track your ride directly from the route view or lock screen. Quick Directions provides arrival time information and directions for walking, cycling or driving.
- The desktop version of Google Maps also updates the “Recent Activities” section to improve trip planning and let you work on multiple routes at once, keeping everything in the highlighted points.
- As part of your travel planning, you can also access a summary of various destinations generated by artificial intelligence from articles, reviews and photos.
All are available through Google’s test center Search Labs, which opened to the public in May, but there is still a waiting list.
