The Forward Air Mobility (AAM) segment has advanced significantly in recent years. With the acceleration of eVTOL aircraft capable of landing and taking off vertically, air taxis are becoming a reality in the lives of people around the world. This Friday (16) the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) signed an agreement with the Brazilian National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC).
ANAC and EASA have signed an agreement as the first step towards certification of air taxis and cargo drones. The agreement is important because it means government agencies are self-organizing to ensure that the technology is introduced into the civil aviation system in a safe manner. The agreement should contribute to the technological development of aviation services and are benefiting companies such as Eve Mobility, a subsidiary of Embraer, which is developing a Brazilian air taxi, in addition to Germany’s Liliumwhich Azul chose to develop the eVTOL aircraft.
Airbus prepares to launch its eVTOL air taxi in Japan

EASA and ANAC signed an agreement
The agreement states that EASA and ANAC intend to maintain an open channel of communication at the technical level to share experiences and accelerate technological progress.. The agreement provides for the joint participation of international technical groups involved in the development of standards applicable to eVTOL aircraft, which will eventually lead to the adoption of the same technical standards for the construction and provision of services.
At the moment, it will take a few more years before air taxis start circulating in major cities. However, countries like Japan are making great strides in implementing specific air taxi services. The agreement between EASA and ANAC, in addition to the important achievements made by Eve Mobility, is a clear sign that Brazil is also keeping an eye on advanced air mobility. It won’t take long for some of Brazil’s major urban centers to conduct the first air taxi trials.
