WhatsApp beta reveals virtual reality integration with Meta Quest headsets

WhatsApp recently released its latest beta version 2.23.13.6 on the Google Play Store for Android users and introduced a new feature that will be officially available soon. This exciting development indicates that WhatsApp will soon offer the ability to connect existing accounts to Meta virtual reality (VR) headsets.

WhatsApp Beta for Android introduces VR compatibility

According to WABetaInfo reports, WhatsApp is actively working on a feature that will allow users to link their existing WhatsApp accounts to Meta Quest VR devices. Meta, formerly known as Facebook, recently announced the Meta Quest 3 VR headset, which boasts affordability compared to rivals like Apple’s Vision Pro.

While VR headset users have been trying to access WhatsApp on their devices for a long time, previous attempts have failed. However, the company seems to have met this demand by finally adding WhatsApp features to the VR headsets.

About WhatsApp Meta Task

There are still a few uncertainties with this development, including how existing WhatsApp accounts will connect to VR devices, compatibility information, and end-to-end encryption support for secure communication.

WABetaInfo points out that it is not yet possible to connect WhatsApp to Meta Quest as this feature is currently under development. The ability to link existing WhatsApp accounts to Meta Quest will be available to beta testers in a future app update.

WhatsApp is also working on some other features. The latest beta versions of WhatsApp for Windows include screen sharing during video calls, high-quality photo sharing, a redesigned emoji keyboard, and new community settings. These enhancements aim to improve collaboration, image sharing and personalization options for users and further enhance the WhatsApp experience.
