To see Mosque of Cordoba from any angle in 3D model it is recreated as if you were boarding a drone or seeing it on the street or checking a route and sights from a cafeteria. This is the technological magic that Google Maps’ new star feature can perform. And all from your mobile phone.
The immersive view of Google Maps is a whole new way to explore a place. which makes you feel like you were there before you even visited. How is this possible? Thanks to advances in artificial intelligence and computer vision, immersive view combines billions of aerial and street view images It adds useful information for the user such as weather, traffic and occupancy of a place to create and further complete a detailed digital model of the world.
Immersive View of Google Maps, a window to the world from your own Xiaomi mobile
Let’s say you’re planning to visit the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, or perhaps you’d rather not leave Spain and see Casa Batlló first. With Immersive View you can: fly virtually over the building and see where the entrances are, what’s around – shops, restaurants, and so get to know the environment before you go. And the best part is that you can see what the area looks like and what the weather will be like at different times of the day with the Time & Weather tool.
You can also see where most people usually have all the information you need to decide where and when to go. Immersive View is so detailed, lets you go down to street level to discover nearby restaurants, and even browse inside to get a quick idea of a place before you book. Or see when there is the least amount of congestion to drive on a particular road or area.
To render these scenes true to reality, according to Google “We use Neural Radiance Fields (NeRF), an advanced artificial intelligence technique that transforms ordinary images into 3D representations. With NeRF, we can accurately recreate the entire context of a place, including the lighting, the texture of the materials and their contents.”. And all this allows you to see it on the screen of your mobile phone or tablet “Is lighting in a bar just right for date night? or if the view of a cafe makes it an ideal place to dine with friends”.
