The NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope photographed the bright globular star cluster NGC 6544 in the constellation Sagittarius.
This was reported by the NASA observatory, Ukrinform reports.
This cluster of closely related stars is located 8,000 light-years from Earth and, like all globular clusters, is a densely populated region in space with tens of thousands of stars.
The image of NGC 6544 combines data from two Hubble cameras (the Advanced Camera for Fine Investigations and the Wide Field Camera 3), along with two separate astronomical observations.
NGC 6544 is said to be located near the vast Lagoon Nebula, a hazy maze of gas and dust created by the fierce winds of newborn stars.
The Lagoon Nebula has a massive 55 light-years wide and 20 light-years from top to bottom.
This object was discovered by German-British astronomer Friedrich Wilhelm Herschel, who first observed the space object on May 22, 1784.
As reported by Ukrinform, the NASA/ESA Hubble space telescope photographed the false galaxy NGC 7292 in the Pegasus constellation.
