Equipped with the SATRIA-1 telecommunications satellite, the Falcon 9 rocket took off from the space force station at Cape Canaveral, Florida, at 01:21 Kiev time. The rocket was delayed for 15 minutes due to strong winds.
At 8.5 minutes after launch, the Falcon 9 first-stage launch vehicle returned to Earth to make a vertical landing on SpaceX’s A Shortfall of Gravitas unmanned spacecraft stationed off the coast of Florida in the Atlantic Ocean.
Meanwhile, the rocket’s upper stage continued to move SATRIA-1 into geosynchronous orbit, eventually placing the satellite there 37 minutes after launch.
According to SpaceX’s mission statement, this was the twelfth launch and landing of a particular launch vehicle.
SATRIA-1, full name Republic of Indonesia Satellite, will be operated by PSN for the Indonesian government.
Based on a statement from Indonesian authorities, The Jakarta Post reported that the launched satellite has a bandwidth of 150 gigabytes per second, which will provide internet access for 50,000 utility points.
SATRIA-1 will occupy an orbital position over the eastern region of Papua and provide Internet access to Indonesia’s remote, underdeveloped islands.
As reported by Ukrinform, the Iraqi Ministry of Communications announced the launch of the Internet using satellite technologies.
