For some, climate change is a hoax, but for others, it is a disturbing reality, so much so that it prompted António Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, to acknowledge that it is not only real, but that we are also running the rhythm of life incompatible with our existenceand that the use of fossil fuels will lead us to a catastrophic point of no return.
According to António Guterres, the use of solid fuels is key because they are “incompatible with human life”. In your opinion, it is essential abandon the use of coal, oil (and derivatives) and gas, and explained that if we continue to move at current levels, the Earth’s average temperature will rise by 2.8 degrees above pre-industrial levels by the end of the century.
An increase in Earth’s average temperature of this caliber could have very serious consequences, as there are very fragile ecosystems that are only viable within a very specific temperature range. it would accelerate melting and desertification some areas of our planet. The Secretary General literally said:
“This spells disaster. However, the collective response remains dismal. We rush towards disaster, with our eyes wide open, with too many willing to do everything with illusions, unproven technologies and magical solutions. It’s time to wake up and step up.”

Personally, the most interesting part of Guterres’ entire presentation was when he openly accused companies that make a fortune from solid fuels try to prevent innovation, technological progress and stop movements which can help fight climate change. This is especially important when we put into context the fact that for every dollar spent on oil and gas drilling and production, only four cents are invested in clean energy and carbon capture.
Guterres believes so selling the future for 30 silver coinsin clear agreement with the Judas story, is “immoral” and that the industry must find a real way to face the transition to clean energies that are compatible not only with human life but also with their long-term survival.
You are right, but we have a very serious problem, and that is this The entire society we live in was built on the basis of fossil fuels, that there are interests of huge giants with great power and influence who make billions from this type of fuel and that they are not willing to go away for good, and there is also the question of long-term damage that causes something downplayed until it’s too late.
