The new space object WD0032-317B, located 57 light-years from Earth, is named after Dr. It was discovered by a group of astronomers led by David Lafreniere.
It was discovered orbiting a white dwarf. This heat heats the brown dwarf to 7,727 degrees Celsius, which is hotter than the surface of most stars. For example, the surface temperature of the Sun is about 5200 degrees Celsius.
WD0032-317B became the first brown dwarf to receive such high levels of ultraviolet radiation.
A brown dwarf is a self-luminous astronomical object dominated by the release of gravitational energy through compression, but some role is played by the release of energy due to nuclear reactions.
