Gigabyte gets a big update with a 55-inch monitor with Android TV

Again, surprising for a gaming monitor outside of its dedicated Aorus sub-brand, we find ourselves ahead of the announcement of a Gigabyte S55U gaming monitor equipped with 54.6-inch Quantum Dot VA panel with 4K resolution and 96% of the sRGB color gamut, which, although some of its characteristics might make it a television, remains outside this family of devices.

Regarding the connectivity section, we will find two HDMI 2.1 ports (one with eARC) and also two HDMI 2.0 ports, with a large absence of DisplayPort port. Other connection options include a USB 3.2 Gen 1 port (5 Gbps), one USB 2.0 port, a headphone jack, a Toslink connector and an Ethernet connector. On the other hand, the Gigabyte S55U also surprises with an addition built-in support for WiFi and Bluetooth, plus an unspecified version of Android TVwhich adds compatibility with Chromecast, Google Assistant and Google Play.

And that’s because we’ll also see a button remote control that gives us direct access to apps like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube or Google Play itself.

Although the actual designation of the monitor comes to us refresh rate 120 Hz and response time 5 ms (although Gigabyte also features a minimum response time of 2ms) and extensive support for FreeSync Premium, VRR, ALLM, Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HDR10 + and HLG HDR standards, making it ideal for use with both computers like any new generation of consoles .

In addition, the Gigabyte S55U offers some software enhancements, p some special game features such as Aim Stabilizer, Black Equalizer or crosshair and on-screen timer.

Already signed on the Gigabyte website, the brand has not yet provided any information about the price or date of availability of the Gigabyte S55U.
