International sanctions against the Russian Federation affect the activities of Russian technology companies, especially Yandex. This is the conclusion reached by analysts of the Institute for War Studies

According to ISW, on June 18, a Moscow court fined Yandex $23,795 for failing to provide user data to the FSB in accordance with Russian Federation national security law. The company stated that it was prevented from doing so due to the sanctions imposed on Russia in this regard.
According to the company representative, the sanctions prevent Yandex from “purchasing, installing and configuring foreign hardware and software” necessary to comply with Russian Federation laws.
“While it is unclear how foreign technology products will help Yandex comply with Russian legislation, the situation shows that international sanctions are affecting some aspects of the Russian technology sector and national security apparatus,” ISW said.
As reported by Ukrinform, in March, Italian Prime Minister Giorgio Meloni vetoed an agreement to buy the cloud service provider of a company affiliated with Russian Yandex.
