Samsung unveils the world’s first new 512GB memory module

Samsung introduced the first 512GB memory module using the Compute Express Link (CXL) interface.

According to Samsung itself, the newly developed CXL memory has four times more capacity than the previous version. This allows the server to scale from one-fifth to tens of terabytes of system latency compared to the previous generation CXL module.

The company states that this is an important step towards the commercialization of CXL. This technology will provide extremely high memory capacity with low latency.

Samsung will also introduce an updated version of its open source software that simplifies the deployment of CXL memory in existing and new systems.

It is worth noting that the development of virtual reality, artificial intelligence algorithms and big data in recent years has produced an incredible amount of data. And traditional memory types have limited scaling. The situation calls for brand new technology like the CXL.
